Wilder is the son of William J, Silbernman and Jeanne. He was born in Milwaukee in 1933. The mother back then when Wilder was just 8 years she was diagnosed with rheumatic fever and that’s when Wilder interest in acting started as the doctor told him to try his best and make the mother laugh.
He went to school at Block Foxe which was a military institute then joined Washington High School where he graduated in 1951. Upon completion of his high school education he joined University of Lowa to sturdy communication and Theatre Arts.
