Andy Samuel Griffith was born on June 1, 1926, in Mount Airy, North Carolina. He was born to his parents, Carl Lee Griffith and Geneva Griffith. His parents were poor and couldn’t afford a home so, Andy stayed with his relatives. His father started working as a carpenter and later bought a house.
Andy was the only child and attended Mount Airy High School. His mentor was Ed Mickey, a priest, who helped him develop his skills till graduation. He was a very quiet and reserved student at the school. He did participate in drama and other extracurricular activities.
To fulfill his dream, he joined the University of Carolina and graduated with a degree in music.
